Buddha & Kuan Yin
The Happy Buddha is a symbol of happiness, health and contented joy. It is believed that rubbing his round belly brings good luck, prosperity and wealth. For thousands of years the Buddha has been evolving and is today a most loved image for the home or office irrespective of its origin. A peacefulness and serenity is depicted through the Buddha’s facial expression with the downcast eyes representing an inward meditative character.
In China the swastika symbolizes eternity, abundance, long life and good fortune and is said to contain the whole mind of the Buddha. It can be found imprinted on the chest, feet or palms. Kuan Yin or Guan Yin Is usually shown in a white flowing robe and usually wears necklaces of Chinese royalty. Often in the right hand is a water jar containing pure water and the left hand holds a willow branch. The Kuan Yin represents mercy, compassion and forgiveness.
