Wood carving is a very old art in China, that can be traced back to the New Stone Age. The Chinese made articles for daily use with the simple stone tools, and thus the primitive art of wood carving began. While differing greatly from its western counterparts, wood carving has thrived in a long historical process of development over thousands of years.
